Introducing the 3-Pocket Envelope Insert

Introducing the 3-Pocket Envelope Insert

Posted on July 13 2026, By: Gregory Long

The latest and greatest from Shipping Shield is the 3-pocket envelope insert!

Variants of this design have been around for YEARS (6+ to our knowledge), but there are very few options on the market, and we listed to your requests!

Where this product shines best is those low cost, high volume orders where a bubble mailer is too expensive and you want to avoid the extra cost of shipping in 2 separate envelopes.

This product is designed to fit snugly inside any standard #10 envelope.

It can fit 10x Magic the Gathering/Pokemon sized cards, inside a single penny sleeve, inside each pocket.  This means you can now securly fit 30x cards inside a single PWE!

They offer 360° protection by using a heavyweight paper vs cardboard used in classic shields.  While the classic shields offer better overall protection, the 3-pocket insert offers a larger volume of cards to be shipped inside single PWE.

There are two variants of the 3-pocket insert: the Kraft and White.

The Kraft is the more cost effective option by being the natural Kraft color and a slightly thinner paper than the WHite.  The Kraft is made of 7pt reply card material.

The White version costs more due to being a more premium paper, thicker paper than the Kraft, and obviously bleached white.  The white is made of 100# premium paper.

Both can be custom printed and unsurprisingly the white prints amazing :)

Custom printing pricing for these will differ from the norm, where the print cost will be variable.

There's too much surface area (potential ink cost) to do the fixed pricing.  There will be a price floor and print quotes will be calculated during the sample print.

The scans below show how each envelope type will print.

There is no adhesive on the flap as this is not intended to be shipped on its own.  Also, not having the adhesive also helps reduce costs, overall.

Using them is very straightforward.

Step 1:  Place cards enside 3-pocket insert.

Step 2: Fold flap over

Step 3a: If you're using non-window envelopes, simply wrap/roll the packing slip completely around the insert (kind of like a burrito!).

Step 3b: When using window envelopes, place the insert on the backside of the packing slip and fold over so the bottom edge of the insert is even with the "fold line" of the packing slip.  The customer address should be showing in the lower left of the packing slip.

Step 4: Open the fold from the previous step and fold over the bottom of the packing slip, over the top of the insert.

Step 5: Put the first fold (address portion of the packing slip) over the just completed fold (bottom of the packing slip).

Step 6: Place in envelope and seal!  Make sure the address is showing properly thorugh the envelope window.
